About Me

I am Yordanka Sirakova, also knowns as DanSir.

I was born and grew up in the beautiful town of Byala Slatina in North-West Bulgaria. I have lived and worked in London since October 2008.

I was brought up in an artistic family. My father is a professional artist, who skilfully combines the bright colours of the Bulgarian rugs, the light and the countryside charm in his paintings. He paints primarily with oil and acrylic. I have inherited his sense of pallet and taste for beauty. Under his influence, and through my art explorations I have developed a style where I communicate joy, happiness and inspiration to the viewer. I put my whole heart and soul in my art works and I want it to bring joy, light and inspiration to everyone who sees or owns it. This is why I am at my best creating when I am happy and content.

My paintings tend to be created in the fantastic-realism style. I choose real objects for my art which are transformed by the prism of my inner world and soul, giving them a magical and fantasy touch. I pay great attention to the detail in my work as I find beauty in the small things.

Art is my true passion. I love to paint and draw since I was a small child. Over the years I have tried many media (technics):

  • drawing with pencils and marker pens

  • watercolours

  • oil paints and acrylic

  • computer graphics

I even dabbled with embroidery, knitting and crochet.

Recently, I've been enjoying different ways of modelling:

  • designed jewellery from polymer clay

  • small clay sculptures

  • decoupage - combine paper mache with other paper techniques to make objects from recycled magazines.

Also I paint on pottery and plan to research the design aspect of this in the future

My dream is to turn my hobby and passion into my job and way of living.

More than that, I would like through my creations to make people feel the real magic of art. Once you find yourself in my world to be difficult to leave without taking a piece of it, even if only just an inspiration.
